Resolved: Performance Degradation in MetaDefender Cloud Scan Result Delivery

Incident Report for OPSWAT Services

Resolved

Affected period: July 29, 2026, 06:00 UTC to July 30, 2026, 22:19 UTC

Between July 29 at 06:00 UTC and July 30 at 22:19 UTC, MetaDefender Cloud experienced a performance degradation affecting a small percentage of file submissions. Affected submissions remained In Progress longer than expected and were ultimately returned with an Aborted status. All other submissions processed normally.

Root cause: a configuration mismatch during the rollout of two new anti-malware engines caused scan-progress tracking to fail for a small number of submissions.

Resolution: the affected engines were removed from production scan profiles on July 30, and full recovery was verified at 22:30 UTC. Both engines will remain disabled until a permanent fix is deployed and validated. Their temporary removal does not reduce detection coverage. The permanent fix is being rolled out across all regions and is expected to complete by August 3, 2026.

If a submission returned an Aborted status during the affected period, it can be safely resubmitted and will process normally. For help identifying affected submissions, contact OPSWAT Support.
